Intellectual Property Litigation & Enforcement

• Defended Nike in a trade dress and patent infringement case with potential exposure of over $60 million.  Obtained summary judgment. Affirmed on appeal.

• Won complex 9th Circuit trademark appeal for Hana Financial; substituted in as counsel for oral argument after briefs were already completed.

• Won summary dismissal of a $10 million trade secret lawsuit filed by a 400-lawyer firm.

• Won complete pre-trial dismissal of $2.5 million copyright & trade dress claim on behalf of leading tile and glass manufacturers.

• Obtained favorable settlement for Disney  in patent infringement and idea theft lawsuit.

• Obtained favorable settlement for VIZIO in patent infringement case in less than 6 months after lawsuit was filed, where Plaintiff walked away with nominal amount.  Currently representing VIZIO  against patent infringement suits in California, Texas, and Delaware.

• Obtained complete “wins” at Markman hearings for several clients (semiconductor, memory, and health products industries) after taking over for Am Law 100 firms.  Recently, one of the cases was dismissed against our client shortly after our Markman victory.

Commercial Disputes / Breach of Contract / Arbitrations

• $27.0 million – Recovered full contract value for client in a bad faith/breach of contract dispute.

• $20.0 million – Successfully represented Southern California Edison in $20 million real estate dispute: obtained dismissal of action on demurrer.  Currently handling several other litigation matters for Edison.

• $18.0 million – Defense side arbitration award in breach of contract claim brought by subsidiaries of a publicly traded $1.4 billion Japanese conglomerate against Firm’s client.

• $6.0 million – Obtained defense verdict after two-month trial in one of the few civil RICO trials in U.S.

• $4.1 million – Settlement in breach of buyout agreement against NASDAQ Company.

• $4.0 million – Enforcement of judgment for the Estate of Elvis Presley.

• $3.0 million – Arbitration award in a joint venture dispute.

• $2.7 million – Victory in Court of Appeals for landslide case.

• $2.6 million – Successfully represented NASDAQ Company in commercial dispute.

• $1.6 million – Arbitration award in complex shareholder’s dispute.

• $1.5 million – Represented entertainment conglomerate in contract disputes and obtained over $1.5 million against a leading internet company.

• $1.4 million – Settlement in a commercial fraud case - retained just weeks prior to trial.

Employment Litigation

• Defeated class certification in wage & hour class action lawsuit.  Currently defending other clients against class action lawsuits for unpaid wages, overtime, rest periods, meal breaks, etc.

• Obtained complete defense verdicts on behalf of Hana Financial, Inc. in several lawsuits dealing with sexual harassment, age discrimination and retaliation.

• Obtained several nuisance settlements for Cal State University in various employment lawsuits.

• Obtained complete defense verdict for ING Bank in employment arbitration before NASD.

• Obtained complete defense verdict after two‐month trial for former employee of Payday Loan and others in one of the few civil RICO cases in history that went to trial.

• Obtained dismissal of employment case involving members of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team.
